Immigrants of the Past
Are we all just simultaneously caught within a new world taste
Also having to deny being completely there, escaping post haste
Some might say that this is not a deliberate choice, it’s all encased
As simply the reality of a social mutation, a waste
The immigrants of the past, marginalized memories we all chase
It all becomes an outfit, a suit: elaborate, intricate lace
I struggle to think of another way, another life, a new place
A new way to overcome that we are too late, that we are displaced
And we are lost, we are lost
Are we nothing but the audience of their lives
And at what cost, we have lost
Are we nothing but workers for the hive
