As Christmas nears
December.
The month of Christmas and cold.
But where did it come from?
And I don’t mean that in the historical sense—it was the tenth month before Julius and Augustus came along yaddah yaddah..—but in the sense of “hey, it was September only moments ago.”
It has come around incredibly quickly, though maybe that’s just for me. I put it down to the fact that now school is no longer a part of my life, there must be a part of my brain that still thinks it’s the summer holidays. All logic pointing against that conclusion, of course, but maybe it’s a part that’s more ingrained to me.
Maybe it’s something I’ll never get over.
That’s scary.
I like September, October and November, and I don’t like the idea of them always whizzing past every year when I have an “extended summer holiday.”
There is another theory: I’ve been busy. Effectively working two jobs and preparing for a 5 month trip across South East Asia and Australasia has taken quite a large chunk of my time over the past 3 months. That’s not to say I haven’t enjoyed it though.
It has arguably been the best 3 months of my life. Though I’d only be arguing with myself—which is pointless—so I don’t know what that’s about.
It has been fun, and at times stressful, but fun.
And now with a huge bout of traveling lined up followed by a full time course watching and making films, what more could a person who loves to travel, watch, and make films want?
It’s exciting. I’m excited. And I reckon that’s going to make this Christmas amongst the top in my memory.
Perhaps closer to the time I’ll share some of the others.
